The Tamagawa University Taiko Dance Group will perform in Roberts Hall,
Marshall Auditorium. The thundering taiko drumming meets traditional
Japanese dance as more than thirty drummers and dancers take the stage!
On Tuesday, April 6 at 7:00 PM, the Tamagawa University Taiko Dance Group
will perform in Roberts Hall, Marshall Auditorium. This event is sponsored
by the Department of East Asian Studies and the Kessinger Family Fund for
Asian Performing Arts, and is free and open to the public.
The Tamagawa University Taiko Dance Group has been touring the world since
1961, visiting Mexico, England, Greece, Canada, Malaysia, Russia,
Indonesia, Africa and the United States. Their amazing performance of
high-energy Taiko drumming and Japanese folkloric dance has received rave
reviews from the New York Times and other media. With growing numbers of
fans every year, they return to the U.S. to perform at the Cherry Blossom
Festival in Washington, D.C.
Thundering taiko drumming meets traditional Japanese dance as more than
thirty drummers and dancers take the stage! It is one of the top-ranking
taiko groups in Japan coming out of Japan’s top performing arts
university. Reception with the performers to follow in Founders Great
Hall.
